The Meta Quest Pro was finally officially announced at Meta Connect 2022, resulting in a lot of people asking “Is the Meta Quest Pro worth it?”.
This question is unsurprising given the announcement. Amongst the flurry of MetaVerse updates and other company news, Mark Zuckerberg announced the price of the Meta Quest Pro, $1500/£1500.
Understandably, this got a mixed reaction, as it’s over three times the price of the Meta Quest 2. So, is the Meta Quest Pro worth it? Let’s take a closer look and see if you should pre order the Meta Quest Pro.
The Meta Quest Pro price shocked many people, which is understandable as it’s around the same price as the similarly inaccessible RTX 4090 that was also recently released.
Unfortunately, we haven’t managed to get our hands on the Meta Quest Pro, so we can’t directly compare it to the Meta Quest 2 or PSVR.
This means that we’ll have to speculate on the features and specs using the data Meta has already released, so, take this with a medium-large pinch of salt.
In terms of price and price alone, we think it’s too high. This is unfortunate, as they spent a not-insignificant amount of time talking about how accessible they intend the MetaVerse to be.
So, is the Meta Quest Pro worth it? From a value perspective, no, not really. However, don’t stop reading quite yet as when it comes to gaming, the story might be different.
As you guys might know, we’re all about the nitty gritty here, so let’s get to the specs, as that might better give us the answer to “Is the Meta Quest Pro worth it?”.
As we mentioned earlier, the specs are a little bit hard to find, as the official Meta Quest Pro page sort of shrouds them in marketing speak.
Meta Quest Pro specs
- Optics: 3x cameras, with real-time expression tracking.
- Sensors: 10x VR/MR sensors.
- CPU: Snapdragon XR2+
- Storage: 256GB
- Memory: 12GB RAM
When comparing these specs to that of the Meta Quest 2, PSVR, and Steam Index, the Meta Quest Pro smashes them out of the water. Additionally, the new and improved controllers
Specs, however, tell only half of the story, and again, we can’t be sure until we get hands-on with one, but its fairly safe to say that if you’re looking for the best VR experience, it looks like the Meta Quest Pro will be it.
Is the Meta Quest Pro worth it?
If you want the absolute best VR experience, the Meta Quest Pro looks like it’ll be the highest performance headset out there, but we can’t be sure quite yet.
When is the Meta Quest out?
You can pre order the Meta Quest Pro right now, and it releases on the 25th October.
