A year after Valorant’s initial release, Riot Games announced its plans to expand the popular FPS into new platforms. Valorant grew in popularity and became a viable esport almost instantaneously, with many ex-CSGO pros moving across. The scene continues to flourish and it is unsurprising to see the shooter coming to mobile, with many other major game developers making their titles more accessible in a similar fashion.
Valorant Mobile is still fairly under the radar, although there have been several leaks showing the game’s UI and gameplay. Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Battlefield has all gone down this route which, if we are honest, makes perfect business sense.
Why would Valorant come to mobile before console?
Firstly, a mobile port of Valorant would be more profitable than console, the accessibility of mobile gaming is off the charts. Anyone who has a mobile phone but no money for a PC or console could download and install the shooter, no matter where they live. The mobile gaming market is huge and when you throw in the fact it’s free to play, Riot Games know they can generate a lot of cash through in-game transactions and guarantee high concurrent player counts.
The number of mobile game downloads worldwide from the Apple Store was 2.3 billion whilst Google Play had 11.8 billion in the first quarter of 2021.
This doesn’t mean Valorant won’t come to console, it is just that Riot is prioritizing the mobile platform first.
Is there a Valorant mobile release date yet?
Nothing official on the release front but we have been seeing several UI and gameplay leaks of late, as shown by DannyINTEL.
Alongside gameplay, we got a bit of insight into various Valorant Agents that will feature in the game. Agents such as Jett, Phoenix, Reyna, Breach, Skye, Sova, and Killjoy appeared to all be playable in this early build of the game.
So, what about a release date? Well, we predict that a Valorant mobile beta at the very least could be available in the coming months, if not already. The fact these leaks show the game at this stage is promising, so we could even see a finished product this summer.
Could there be a Valorant mobile beta?
It is unclear at what stage the Valorant mobile game leaks appear to show. With nothing confirmed, we can only speculate that it is early. Whether or not Valorant fans will get a chance to play the mobile port in an alpha or beta testing phase we don’t know but we are could be close to finding out.
Further screenshots from the leaks revealed a bit more of the UI showing a quick buy menu for select guns.
We also got to see the potential full buy menu too.
The leaks give clear evidence that the game is on the way, with tests underway in select regions. Bringing a successful title like this to mobile is almost certainly a challenge, however, we have seen it done plenty of times before.
